MIDDLETOWN — Berlin and Middletown are applying jointly for a $431,000 state trails grant in a collaborative effort to enhance hiking and walking areas in both municipalities to allow outdoor enthusiasts to better enjoy the beauty of the natural world. Both municipalities own land, and share an interest, in the Lamentation Mountain open space area and former Pistol Creek golf course , according to Middletown Land Use Director Marek Kozikowski. The project encompasses 159 acres, 61 acres of which is the Middletown's portion, he said.
